The iU880B is a compact and cost–effective USB stick based on the Long Range Radio Module iM880B-L that operates in the unlicensed 868 MHz band and combines a powerful Cortex® M3 controller with the new LoRa® transceiver SX1272 of Semtech® Corporation.
The iU880B is qualified according to the RED 1999/5/EC. With an adjustable output power of up to +18 dBm (EIRP) combined with the outstanding sensitivity of the USB-Stick high ranges can be achieved. USB to UART Bridge Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers for Microsoft Windows, WindowsCE and Linux are available (www.ftdichip.com).
The iU880B is targeted for a huge variety of applications like Smart Metering, Smart Cities, IoT- and M2M-applications.
iU880B LR Base
The WIMOD LR Base firmware is a collection of functionalities and applications like Radio Link Test, Sensor App, Data Link Service, etc. embedded in our powerful WIMOD OS operating system.
As an alternative to the LoRaWAN® standard the embedded radio stack allows direct module to module communication without the need for further LoRa® concentrator hardware equipment.
The WiMOD LR Base HCI protocol is designed to expose the radio module services to an external host controller. The communication between host and the radio (WiMOD) is based on so called HCI messages which can be sent through the UART. Please refer to the download section.
iU880B LoRaWAN®
The LoRaWAN® protocol stack, specified by the LoRa Alliance®, is based on IBM’s LMiC and IMST’s WIMOD OS. It enables Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANS) for Internet of Things and Machine-to-Machine applications and supports Activation By Personalization (ABP) or Over The Air (OTA) activation.
The WiMOD LoRaWAN EndNode Modem HCI protocol is designed to expose the radio firmware services to an external host controller. The communication between host and the radio (WiMOD) is based on so called HCI messages which can be sent through a UART interface. Please refer to the download section.
