The iM222A is a compact, pre-certified, IEEE 802.15.4 compliant radio module for the globally available 2.4 GHz ISM band. It has a transceiver, a microcontroller, and a PCB antenna and can be soldered directly on the target hardware like conventional SMD components. To connect an external antenna the module is also available with a 50Ω pad.
The iM222A is preprogrammed with the ZigBee Network Processor (ZNP) firmware, and thus offers the possibility of an easy-to-use API to integrate (either via UART or SPI) full ZigBee PRO networking functionality to an existing product. No deep understanding of the ZigBee stack or lengthy introduction to the software is required. With less than 10 commands a complete ZigBee network can be developed and managed via one of the interfaces, either UART or SPI. The ZigBee Network Processor firmware is part of the Z-stack package (version 2.4.0) firmware from Texas Instruments and is freely available.
The iM240B is a compact wireless module for the globally available 2.4 GHz frequency band.
The module has superb HF performance, resulting in a link budget of approx. 104 dB. Accordingly, high ranges (> 500m) can be achieved at a data rate of 250 kbps. The quality of the radio link can be evaluated using field strength measurement (RSSI1).
In addition to an IEEE 802.15.4 transceiver and a microcontroller, it features an integrated PCB antenna. Of course you can get the module with a 50Ω port for connecting an external antenna. The iM240B can be soldered directly on the target hardware just as usual SMD components.
The Starter Kit is a plug & play solution to explore the features and capabilities of the WiMOD radio modules. The kit contains two demo boards and two radio modules soldered on specific adapter boards. The modules are pre-programmed with a demo application to evaluate wireless connectivity.
