It's back in stock! iOKE868 Smart Metering Kit - Time to monitor your energy consumption. >>Get it now<<

The iM881A-M is a compact and low-cost radio module that operates in the unlicensed 868 MHz band and combines a powerful Cortex® M0+ controller with the new LoRa® transceiver of Semtech® Corporation. It has been specifically designed for battery driven devices. It consumes 28 mA in transmit with the maximum output power of +13dBm. Combined with an excellent sensitivity of down to -138 dBm a range of 12 km can be achieved in free space environment. The iM881A-M is pre-certified according to RED guideline and can be soldered like an SMD component.

iM881A-M passed the Orange™ device interoperability test. This test validates the performance of the module in the Orange™ public LoRaWAN® network environment.

iM881A-M

iM881-A-M is reaching EOL (iM881A-M EoL-Notification). For new projects we recommend  to use our further improved module iM881A-XL.

It’s available with two options of protocol stack:

iM881A-M LR Base

The WIMOD LR Base firmware is a collection of functionalities and applications like Radio Link Test, Sensor App, Data Link Service, etc. embedded in our powerful WIMOD OS operating system.

As an alternative to the LoRaWAN® standard the embedded radio stack allows direct module to module communication without the need for further LoRa® concentrator hardware equipment.

The WiMOD LR Base HCI protocol is designed to expose the radio module services to an external host controller. The communication between host and the radio (WiMOD) is based on so called HCI messages which can be sent through the UART.

Please refer to the download section.

iM881A-M LoRaWAN®

The LoRaWAN® protocol stack, specified by the LoRa Alliance®, is based on IBM’s LMiC and IMST’s WIMOD OS. It enables Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANS) for Internet of Things and Machine-to-Machine applications and supports Activation By Personalization (ABP) or Over The Air (OTA) activation.

The WiMOD LoRaWAN EndNode Modem HCI protocol is designed to expose the radio firmware services to an external host controller.
The communication between host and the radio (WiMOD) is based on so called HCI messages which can be sent through a UART interface.

Additionally, iM881A-M can integrate the LoRaWAN® application on the MCU of our module using the open source code on Github.
